The company is founded by Wim Calame in 2009. He graduated in Biology at the University of Leiden, The Netherlands and acquired his Ph.D. in Immunology at the Department of Infectious Diseases of the University Hospital at Leiden, The Netherlands, on a thesis on the impact by cytostatic drugs on antibacterial efficacy of antimicrobial drugs.

After various post doc positions in Leiden (Nuclear Medicine), Rotterdam (Public Health) and Amsterdam (Immunology) Wim Calame obtained various jobs at the Industry (scientist at the Hercules European Research Center in Barneveld, The Netherlands, scientist at Quest International in Naarden, The Netherlands, Director Science, Clinical Trials and Statistics at Kerry International in Almere, The Netherlands).

He started StatistiCal in 2009 as independent company. In 2010 he was appointed Principal Scientist at FrieslandCampina for 70% of his time. As of 2011 upon leaving FrieslandCampina (on his own request) Wim focusses entirely on StatistiCal upon the present day.
